Get Gum Off Your Shoe

Hello everyone! Today we’re here to talk about a little nuisance we’ve all run into at one time or another – getting gum on our shoes. Whenever this happens, I always feel like my mood instantly hits rock bottom. It’s obviously an ordinary day and you end up ruining your entire shoe with a tiny bit of gum! But don’t worry, today we will share with you 4 simple yet effective methods to teach you how to remove chewing gum from your shoes and restore their glory.

1. refrigerator method: freeze it!

This method is my favorite and the easiest. If you have a refrigerator at home, it’s a lifesaver.

Put the shoe in a plastic bag, making sure the gum part is wrapped tightly.

Then put it in the freezer of your refrigerator and wait for about 30 minutes.

When you take it out, gently scrape off the gum with a hard object (like a plastic knife or credit card).

The principle behind this method is simple – the cold temperature hardens the gum and makes it easier to remove. And the frozen gum won’t stick to your shoes, so you can scrape it off cleanly.

2. Hot water method: Let the gum melt!

If you don’t like the refrigerator method, or the refrigerator is not big enough, the hot water method is also a good choice. In fact, the change in temperature will make the gum much less sticky.

Prepare a pot of hot water, but be careful not to make it too hot so you don’t burn yourself or ruin your shoes.

Place your shoes in the hot water and soak them for a few minutes.

Gently rub the gum with a cloth or old toothbrush and see it gradually dissolve.

If your shoes are leather or made of more delicate materials, it is recommended to avoid overheated water to avoid damaging the uppers Oh!

3. Use cooking oil: gentle but effective

Cooking oil is probably one of the gentlest ways to remove gum. Often times, we have a little oil on hand and can fix the problem as we go.

Pour a small amount of cooking oil (such as olive oil or vegetable oil) onto the gum.

Gently massage with your fingers until the gum starts to soften.

Then gently wipe with a cloth or paper towel and the gum will be easily removed.
