Did you accidentally drip super glue on your favorite clothes? Don’t worry! While super glue is indeed powerful, it doesn’t mean it will ruin all your clothes. Today we’re going to talk about how to easily remove super glue from your clothes and get them back to looking like new.
1. Treat it quickly when you first get it on!
Superglue becomes super difficult to remove once it dries. So, it’s best to start treating it before it’s completely dry. If the glue is still wet, try gently wiping it with a damp cloth to remove most of it first. Never rub hard, lest it penetrates the clothing even more.
2. Use vinegar or alcohol
If the glue has started to dry, don’t worry! You can try a couple of common things around the house – vinegar or alcohol. Dip a small cotton ball in vinegar or alcohol, gently press it onto the glue and wait a few minutes. The vinegar and alcohol will soften the glue and make it easier to remove.

3. Use nail shampoo (with acetone)
If vinegar and alcohol didn’t quite get the job done, then try a nail shampoo. Nail shampoos that contain acetone, in particular, can dissolve superglue. Dip a cotton ball into the nail polish and gently rub the glue until it starts to loosen. Remember to wash the garment thoroughly with warm water after wiping.
However, this method is suitable for durable garments, like denim or synthetic fibers. For some delicate fabrics, it’s better to use it carefully.
4. Ice method
If you think super glue is too sticky to remove easily, then try the freezing method! Wrap ice cubes in a plastic bag and place it at the glue. Wait a few minutes for the super glue to harden and become brittle. You can then use your fingernails or a knife to gently scrape off the dried glue.

5. Washing machine cleaning
Some stubborn glue removal incomplete, you can try to put into the washing machine cleaning. Turn the clothes on their sides, put them into a laundry bag, and then wash them with a mild detergent. Don’t rub excessively: When removing glue, avoid rubbing vigorously so that it doesn’t spread to the rest of the garment.
